Microsoft regularly releases updates, patches, or hotfixes for its operating system and, over time, the list of updates can get quite long. With WinUpdatesList, NirSoft aims to offer a simple and efficient means of staying on top of all these updates. Simply launch this application and it will generate a list of all the updates, service packs, and hotfixes that have been installed on your Windows PC over time.

Speaking about installing things on your Windows PC, it’s worth pointing out that a straightforward setup wizard will guide you through all the steps you need to take to install WinUpdatesList. According to the developer, Nir Sofer, WinUpdatesList should work just fine with any Windows edition. BUT, if you’re going to use it on Windows 7, Windows 8, or Windows 10, then the lower pane won’t display any information.

There are two panels on this application’s list: the one at the top lists all the updates, the one at the bottom displays the files that were updated. But as mentioned before, this lower panel doesn’t show anything on Windows 7 and newer. Focusing on the upper panel instead, it lists several useful details: name, description, installation date, update type, web link, description, and more.

Using WinUpdatesList is a very straightforward matter. Just launch the application and it will list all Windows updates on its interface. From this interface you can view an update’s description, open the web link that’s associated with that update, see when the update was installed on your PC, export update information as TXT or HTML, and more.

WinUpdatesList is freeware. If you like it and you want to support the project, go to NirSoft.net and make a donation.

WinUpdatesList works as advertised: it lists all the Windows updates that have been installed on your PC over time.

Pros

Installing WinUpdatesList on a Windows PC is an effortless task. The application has a user friendly interface that’s easy to figure out. Simply launch WinUpdatesList and it will generate a list of installed Windows updates. You can view an update’s description and open its web link. WinUpdatesList is free software.

Cons

The lower panel doesn’t display any information on Windows 7 and newer. You can view a list of installed Windows updates in the Control Panel, without having to install WinUpdatesList.
